Talk about FUN! This beautiful family and I go WAY back! Yes, I am old enough to have babysat for BOTH mom and dad in Las Vegas, back in the day. These two and their families were in my family ward growing up and they ended up falling in love, having two gorgeous daughters and (lucky for me) moving to Mesa! It was such a fun time to get together and remember old times. Thank you Paige for letting me photograph your beautiful family, I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

I was lucky enough to be asked to participate in a holiday giveaway from WHIPPY CAKE, a local website that has amazing accessories. They were doing a few giveaways for people around the valley that could use a little pick-me-up. As soon as I heard about Wendy Wilson, I knew I wanted to do a shoot for her. She has breast cancer and it is something she is going to have to live with now for the rest of her life. She has had a long battle and is a remarkable woman. When I asked her what kind of session she would like to have, she said she would love to do a session with all her girlfriends. They have been a major support system for her and even through a benefit fundraiser to help her pay her chemotherapy bills. For the shoot they all donned their breast cancer color, hot pink and met up at their favorite Coffee Shop in Gilbert. It was a total blast and the women had a lot of laughs. Thank you SO much for the opportunity Wendy and I am blessed to have met and worked with such a wonderful woman!

I have to do a little shoutout to a fabulous photographer designer that is giving away a FREE workshop that I would DIE to go to!!! I have been a "follower" of hers for a while now and absolutely LOVE her stuff! She sells fabulous action sets and templates for cards. I have purchased a few sets, but my favorite is the Dolci Texture set that I just purchased! I wanted a "vintage" feel added to some of my favorite photos, and these textures were just the trick. Meet baby Ainsley! She has endured all odds and is definitely a little miracle. Ainsley was born at 27 weeks old. She weighed less than 1 pound 7 ounces and fought hard to stay here with her loving family. She is now 6 months old, and just hit the record 8 pound mark on the scale! She is an absolute doll and slept so soundly during the beginning of our shoot. I was so excited when she woke up and shared those gorgeous eyes with us. I am blessed for getting the opportunity to capture this sweet little miracle, and hope you can enjoy some of the warmth that those angelic eyes bring. Congratulations Russel family!

This little guy is ALL mine! I am a few weeks behind on his two year shots and decided that today was the day. I dropped the girls off to dance, and Mr. "Cool Dude" and I headed out for some super COOL mommy/boy time. I wasn't sure what he would do, because he is just a bundle of hyperness. London's Run 2010

I was given the amazing opportunity of shooting the London's Run event this year at Schnepf Farms. As a leukemia survivor, my heart aches for those that have lost their battle and I want nothing more than to be able to give whatever I can back to the cancer community and help in some way. When I first heard about London's Run, a marathon/fundraiser to benefit local families that have children battling different forms of Cancer, I thought I would try and run it. Well, I found something better! I was blessed to be able to shoot the entire event that day and meet many wonderful people. Heather Solomon, London's mother, will always and forever be one of my true heroes. To be able to lose a child and come out of it with such force that you involve an entire community is amazing. The love and support that was shown that day was incredible and there were many tears (both happy and sad) shed for all the brave children battling these diseases. Maricopa County Animal Care

Yesterday I had the priviledge of going to a local Animal shelter and taking pictures of the dogs that are up for adoption. It is so sad to see all those big dogs stuck in little tiny pens with nobody to love or care for them. The people that work there all have a great love for these animals and it shows in the care they provide. Here are a couple pictures of the sweet dogs that I had the pleasure of meeting. I hope to be able to go back often to do what I can to help out. I only wish that I could bring them all home with me. London's Run 2010

As many of you are aware, I am a survivor of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. I was diagnosed as a young child and given about a 20% chance of survival. I have tried to do a little something over the years to give back and this year, there is London's Run. It is a fundraising benefit in honor of a little girl named London who lost her battle with AML a few years ago.

I will be attending the run, taking pictures at the event and also donating a family session package for the raffle. It should be a great event and I am really looking forward to attending. If you are interested in signing up, go to http://www.londonsrun.org/ for more details!

One Year Birthday Shoot

This is my little man and I couldn't resist sharing some of my favorites of our little session. For every month that he has been alive, I have been taking pictures to mark the date. For his one year, I wanted something a bit more special and outdoors. He is a B-O-Y through and through and LOVES to play in the dirt and walk around everywhere now. He is such a joy and smiles ALL day long. I'm SO glad we were able to capture that in this session, they are my absolute favorites!

The lighting is absolutely perfect and I couldn't be happier with the shots! They are so much fun to shoot when they are "into" it. hee hee I'm hoping I can steal the studio for more shoots in the future....we'll see.

Ceci and boys

I had a mini session with my friend Ceci at the lake this week. It was going to be just some headshots of her, but I couldn't help shooting her adorable boys too. They were the perfect models for me and already knew how to "strike a pose"! Better watch out Ceci, you are going to have your hands full with those two! Beautiful family!

Well, as "FALL" as we get in Arizona! My next door neighbor wanted a new family picture for her advertising and Christmas cards. I had LOTS of places to choose from right in Anthem (where we live). The waterfalls are gorgeous and it's always nice to be a block away from a golf course. This is just the first of my family sessions lined up for the fall. Happy Fall Y'all!

Newborn Session

I had the great opportunity of shooting for a friend in my ward last week. Her baby is a total miracle baby....she was in the NICU for a week after she was born with bleeding on her brain and had a full recovery. It's always a blessing to be so close to these little angels on earth. She is so sweet and so beautiful and I only pray for the best with the family. Temples

Since I got such a great response on the last post from Temple Square, I thought I might pull out my favorite temple pictures I have taken. I have to say that I am very excited to post these too, because it is one of my FAVORITE subjects! A few people had asked a couple questions about them, so I thought I'd try to answer them to the best of my ability.

There are temples all over the world and they are only open on the inside to members that have been interviewed and found worthy to enter. Temples are places on earth where God can reside and the church takes the things they do inside very seriously, so they want to make sure the people entering take them seriously as well. Most temples have some sort of visitor's center that non-members can visit. The one in Salt Lake City is great and really big since it is the main church headquarters. There is also a really nice one near my home in Mesa, Arizona. You can visit the temple grounds of any temple and take pictures all over the buildings. They are gorgeous. Some will even allow you to enter the main lobby to have a peak and there are always people there to answer questions if you have them. The angel Moroni is atop a spire on every temple because he is the angel that is going to usher in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. (Of course, if anyone has any more questions......missionaries are MORE than happy to answer them)

If you have a temple anywhere near you, member or not, it is always a great place to go and get some FABULOUS architechtural shots! It is also my favorite place to take wedding portraits, since the background is always gorgeous and because I got married in the Las Vegas temple. I hope you enjoy these ones!

Salt Lake City

Salt Lake City is one of my favorite places to visit because it is where Temple Square resides. Not only is it full of beautiful green landscapes and gorgeous places like Park City, it also has some of the most beautiful temples on the earth. I just came back from a trip and had to share some of my favorite pictures from Temple Square.

I finally had a "real" shoot for the first time in several months that didn't involve my two beautiful daughters! I have a friend in my church that is due in a couple months and she is just so cute that I had to shoot maternity for her. I am so happy with how these turned out! She is adorable! Don't you just love the ribbon bow? She just tied that onto her maternity blouse and made it the cutest top. What a fun and worthwhile shoot! Thanks Rikki!

Cute new camera bag!

I have needed a "roomier" camera bag to fit everything in for a while! So, I finally headed down to the mall in search. I didn't want an actual "camera bag", I wanted a bag that could pass off as a purse or camera bag, and most importantly, it had to be CUTE! I found this and instantly fell in love with the size, the color and the pockets! It's great and so much fun for summer!

I finally got my girls in their Easter dresses to take some pics! They were not wanting to cooperate for awhile, but they looked so beautiful I had to get something! I can't believe how grown up they are starting to look....it's so sad to me! I can't put into words what these two special girls have done for me and what joy they have brought to my life!

Grandparents

There are lots of emotions that go with the word "Grandparent" for me. First are my own grandparents. I have been very blessed to have memories of not only my passed on grandma (Anderson) and Papa (Green), but also of my Great-Grandparents. I truly, truly miss them and have been so blessed to have them all in my life. My "Grammy" lives back in Vegas and is so talented and I wish I was closer to see her more often. Also, my girls are very blessed to have three awesome grandparents in their life. Their Grandma Hutchings (who lives in Utah), we don't get to see often enough anymore, but they love her to pieces! The girls have spent LOTS and LOTS of time with my parents and have a very deep and strong relationship with them. Although we are not a block away anymore, they still see them as often as they can! Grammy and Papa came to stay with us for the Easter weekend and the girls had an absolute blast! I tried to get some shots of them and our impromptu session was after three hours of church and a morning of easter egg hunting, so they were not cooperative for very long. Just wanted to share with you what I got.......(we even managed to get in a cute family pic).......these two little girls are VERY spoiled with LOVE!

My very first canvas!!!!!!

I just ordered my first canvas of the girls. My husband is madly in love with this picture and wanted it really big, so I thought I'd try out White House's new gallery wrap canvas. It is 20x24 and the image is wrapped around the edges so that you don't need a frame. It is absolutely PERFECT!!! It is in the entryway to my family room and I can't stop staring at it! Now, if I can only get that ONE family picture...............hmmmm.

Ok, it's been forever since I've actually posted, but I LOVED this picture of my husband and two girls and just had to share. Daddy bought fishing poles for my youngest's birthday and we all went down to the lake by our house. There are very small and very few fish, so no catches yet, but I'm sure we will soon, and I had BETTER be there to catch it on camera! These are the moments that make it ALL worth it!

For my birthday last week, we took a weekend trip to Sedona, Arizona. What an amazingly beautiful place! Here are a few of my faves! I took a lot at this little place called Tlequepaque, it's a Mexican Village with shops and cafes that is absolutely gorgeous! I have been wanting pics like these for my walls in my house. I am definitely going back for a day trip of shooting!

My sweet little five year old LOVES to say her prayers! At night, we have family prayers and then she always asks just one of us (me or daddy) to stay with her and help her say her own. She always asks God to bless her that she won't have bad dreams. For some reason, the porcupine in Bambi II scared her and she can't stop talking about it. Who knew a porcupine could ever do that?! I had to snap a shot!
